We all know how stressful the festive season can be. A spike in our expenses buying presents for friends and family at Christmas time, prices soaring on everyday items and paying to keep the kids busy during their holidays.
Once Christmas is over and the New Year begins, we have a sudden shift in our minds. We make New Years resolutions for better health, we make decisions to make better choices with our hard earned money and we have loads of new ideas to make the New Year better than the last.
All that goes straight out the window a day or two later when we go back to our stressful jobs and stressful lives. Would the New Year be any easier on us if we carefully planned our resolutions and goals in line with our income, expertise and spare time? The answer quite simply is YES!!! Making our resolutions and goals for the New Year achievable is the best way to get a feeling of accomplishment and reward. Setting unrealistic and impossible goals causes us more stress and makes us feel like failures.
In 2023, set smaller and more achievable goals. Instead of having one or two big ones, focus on 5 or 10 smaller goals to accomplish throughout the year. To make the next Festive season easier on your finances, start saving a small amount every month (£50 a month will give you an extra £600 to put towards gifts next Christmas). Booking a family holiday in advance will also save you a lot of money.
Choose your resolutions wisely. Make sure they are manageable, affordable and achievable. Start doing courses you love, start your own company, sign up at the gym if your goals involve getting into shape and take that well deserved weekend away to get a break from it all.
Good luck and all the best for 2023!!!
